Why Tu Duc Tomb Feels So Peaceful and Poetic

I viewed royal tombs as dark places. However, my experience at Tu Duc's tomb showed me otherwise.
Its history was a royal tomb that was built during the emperor's life. He worked, wrote poetry, and relaxed there; it was his personal sanctuary.
The tomb reflects Tu Duc's role as a romantic poet; we see in the design of the manmade island, lotus lakes, and pavilions, everything evokes poetry.
