Why Explore Hoi An on Bicycle?

Cycling in Hoi An just makes sense. The Old Town is closed to motorbikes and cars, and most roads are small and hundreds of years old, perfect for a quiet ride.
Bicycles are available for rent at hotels and homestays. In addition, rather than walking around city streets, you can cycle around the city streets while still admiring the beauty around you.
Additionally, the views are stunning when cycling there. Picture riding through vast golden rice fields, small wooden bridges, local markets bursting with colours and smells, and seeing the sun set when cycling during the afternoon.

The Most Beautiful Cycling Routes in Hoi An

Now I'd like to share my favourite cycling routes: cycling routes that made me fall for Hoi An all over again.

    Hoi An Ancient Town

Riding a bicycle through the Ancient Town is pure magic.
Explore hidden alleys, visit temples, enjoy coffee by the river, and capture the town's unique, colorful corners.

Hai Ba Trung Road: From Town to Sea

This road takes you from the Ancient Town to An Bang Beach.
On the way, you will pass by rice paddies and possibly see a buffalo working in the fields. The cycle is about 45 minutes without rushing; you won’t want to rush.

Ride to An Bang & Cua Dai Beaches

If you are looking for a beach escape, this is it because the road to both An Bang and Cua Dai is flat, simple, and beautiful.
How to go: Start from Tran Hung Dao street and continue your way straight, then follow Cua Dai street. Along the way, take in the sights, which include rice fields, palm trees, and local village life.

Where to stop: Turn left onto Hai Ba Trung for An Bang beach, or go straight for Cua Dai beach (4km from the Ancient Town).

Explore the Countryside of Cam Thanh

This is my personal favorite route when looking for a deeper connection to Hoi An's rural spirit.
Route: From the Ancient Town, you will head towards Cam Thanh village. You will now find yourself on a quiet, narrow road that winds through coconut forests, lotus ponds, and calm riverside lanes.

Tips for a Great Bike Ride in Hoi An

Start early: Ride in the mornings or late afternoons to avoid the heat (know that from May to October it is hot).
Stay hydrated, pack enough water, sunscreen, and a hat.
Be careful, Hoi An is bike-friendly, but keep an eye out for pedestrians and traffic in crowded Ancient Town areas.
Don’t stress, a major part of the magic is taking your time and soaking up the scenery.
