Photography Tips for Capturing Ba Na Hills

Written by Paul Lee

Can you imagine the joy of standing on Vietnam's Golden Hand Bridge and taking a photo so impressive that it causes your friends back home to be particularly jealous? "Is that you, bruh!?!" they will text. If you're getting ready to go on a Ba Na Hills Golden Bridge photo tour from Hoi An or Da Nang, you are in luck!

I have been working towards the perfect shot here for years, and sometimes won big and sometimes lost because of fog. In this article, VIET DOVE Travel will be exposing its greatest (and a little cheeky) Photography Tips for Capturing Ba Na Hills. If you are ready to enhance your Instagram feel, let's get going!

The Golden Hand Bridge photo is the go-to shot, but not every shot is worth posting. I recommend standing about 20 meters from either end of the bridge, and you will get both giant hands in one shot. This is where the pros get their photos, and there really are thousands of great pictures here.

Feel dramatic? Take a photo in front of one hand, and below it, so that it looks like it is giving you a giant hug. I have done this shot a dozen times, and it always goes over very well. If you want to catch different angles, you can go farther away, and try to get the bridge in with the misty mountains (they are very nice), and I have captured the bridge in fog, which my friends swore was entirely Photoshop. (Not)

    Timing is Everything

Another aspect of taking good photos is to make sure that your photo is not photobombed by people or being captured in awful light. Plan to take a photo of the bridge at 8 AM. The first hour after the bridge opens is very peaceful, and the morning light makes everything look like a fairy tale. You think you want a clean shot of the bridge? Yes, I arrived right when the bridge opened, and I felt like I owned the place – no one there, pure joy.

Another good time is 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM when everyone is off having lunch. Do not skip lunch for itself, low blood sugar and photography do not mix. If you are coming from Bana Hills from Hoi An or Da Nang, allow yourself at least a 1-hour window for travel, and at least 30 minutes to reach the bridge from the cable car. If you want to focus on the timing without stress, engage VIET DOVE Travel's tour, and let us plan your picture-perfect day.

    Flower Gardens and Buddha Statue:

Love Garden and Eden Garden are like walking into a painter’s palette, with bright flowers all around, use them as a focal point in your images. I once framed a photo with some hot red roses, and it received more likes than my selfie with a puppy (I know, rude right?).

Right next to it is the 27-meter sitting Buddha statue. This meditative experience is a great shot to add to your gallery. Pose in front for great images that scream, "I found zen in Vietnam."

The French Village & Fantasy Park: European Vibes

French Village and Fantasy Park are like a little Europe in Vietnam. Cobblestone streets, castle-like hotel- it's like a photographer's candy store. You might see people taking their wedding pictures there.

Ba Na Hills photography tip: shoot when there are clear days and good soft light, like early morning or late afternoon. Shooting photos in the clear midafternoon sun is the kiss of death for good photos. Imagine everybody looks like a panda because of the harsh light.
