How to Get from Hanoi to Mu Cang Chai

You will start your journey in Hanoi.
There are many overnight buses available to travel to Mu Cang Chai, which depart late at night and arrive early in the morning. I took a sleeper bus that departed at 11 pm and arrived in Nga Ba Kim-Mu Cang Chai at about 4 am.

    • Duration: 5 hours
    • Ticket Price: ~ 250,000 VND/one-way

Once you have arrived, take some time to relax, eat a warm breakfast, and organize your gear before departing for the base of the mountain.

    A typical cost of a 2-day 1-night trekking experience will be: ~ 3,000,000 – 3,500,000 VND
These prices generally include a guide, food, camping equipment, transportation, and other logistical arrangements - providing a high-value mountain trekking experience in northern Vietnam.

Start of the Trek – Cool Air, Shaded Trails, and Beginner-Friendly Paths

Typically, the distance to ascend to the top of the mountain is about 4-6 hours, depending on your pace.
The trek is beginner-friendly but also exciting for photographers:

    • Cool, refreshing mountain air.
    • Shaded trails under towering forest trees.
    • A mystical layer of morning fog that gives the hike a magical vibe.

I love this section: quiet, refreshing, and with a lot of "energy of the mountain" that gets you pumped up.

When the sun sets, you will reach the higher altitude where the light is gentle and warm.
Watching the clouds pass through the mountains as Ta Chi Nhu glows under the setting sun is a feeling that cannot be captured by words.
After photographing the view, enjoy dinner at an elevation of over 2000m and get ready to go to bed early for the next morning's sunrise hike.

This is the highlight of the whole trek:

    • The mountains glow under the morning sun.
    • A huge "sea of clouds" floats just beneath your feet.
    • Occasionally, wild horses graze in the first rays of sunlight.
    • Peaceful, crisp air at the peak.

    Then you can decide:
