Written by Paul Lee

Are you planning on travelling from Hoi An to Ba Na Hills? The Golden Hand Bridge and beautiful views of the mountains await. However, how you get there can impact your experience. I have travelled the Hoi An to Ba Na Hills route many times since Ba Na Hills opened. I have tried every way to get to Ba Na Hills from Hoi An & Danang, including Crowded taxis in busy high season, to scenic rides on a motorbike. Let VIET DOVE Travel assist you in choosing the best form of transport for a smooth, special trip. Below is everything you need to know about travel guide: How to get from Hoi An  to Bana Hills.

Table of Contents

Grab or Taxi- Private and Comfortable

Pros: Grab or taxis offer the most door-to-door transport option. This is great when transporting a small group, and you want a comfortable and private ride to Ba Na Hills. You can sit back and relax without worrying about your route to take or what time you will arrive.

Cons: It is typically the most expensive transport option, which is at least 600,000 VND one-way. Prices may rise during peak seasons, and your wait time may increase. I once paid nearly 700,000 VND for my Grab ride back from Ba Na Hills to Hoi An on a busy holiday- painful!

    Travel Time: about 1 hour.

Best for: Small groups or travelers who want privacy and will pay for it.

My tip: If you book through Grab, you will know what the pricing will be without surprises, or you can ask VIET DOVE Travel to get a reliable car for you. Check out our transport options.

    Motorbike Rental- Budget-Friendly Adventure

Pros: Renting a motorbike is the cheapest way to go, starting from 100,000 VND, depending on the motorbike. You can stop for photos along this scenic route and free stop.

Cons: You would need to be an experienced driver, particularly on busy Vietnamese roads. Rainy days also make it a bit tricky and can be dangerous - I got caught in a heavy rain on this route, and it wasn't a fun experience!

Travel time: Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.

Best suited to: Adventurous travelers or backpackers, typically, or if you are generally fit.

Note: Make sure you check the condition of the bike before you leave - brakes, tires, everything. You also need to have the contact information for the rental shop in case you need to call for recovery.

    Shuttle Bus: Cheap and Convenient

Pros: Shuttle buses are relatively cheap, starting from 220,000 VND and include hotel pickup. They are a safe option if you don't want to drive!

Cons: You will be with other people (can get a bit cramped in busy times), and you often have a set time to travel after. When it is busy, it can feel a bit congested - in that it was a little stuffy on some shuttles!

    Travel time: Approximately 1,5 hours.

Best suited to: Solo travelers or a small group that wants cost over flexibility.

My tip: Always call and check on pick-up details in advance. The most complicated part is when you are rushing your shuttle with bags at the collection. To make it easier for you to organise your shuttle, we can do it for you here at VIET DOVE Travel! Check out our shuttle services.

Private / Group Tour: Premium and Guided

Pros: The tour provides the highest quality experience, which is always with professional guides, taking all the stresses away. Transportation costs are also included in the package, so you don't have to worry about it.

Disadvantages: You may have a structured itinerary with limited opportunity to explore at your own pace

    Travel Time: Approximately 1 hour.

Best for: People who want a professional experience, that means you! I have done a couple of tours when the guided stories from my guide concerning Ba Na Hills made the day for me!
