Join VIET DOVE Travel in discovering the famous stone-carving village of Da Nang, Tien Hieu Workshop.

The History
The stone-carving tradition in Da Nang dates back over 400 years, making it one of the most well-respected craft villages in Vietnam. Generations of skilled artisans have passed down their knowledge in stone-crafting and carving everything (i.e., jewellery, statues)
Tien Hieu Workshop is a family-run business that has continued this tradition for generations and established itself as a trusted name for craftsmanship and quality.

The Statue Carving Area
Upon entering, I was greeted by the owner, who examined an order. He explained that every order starts with a customer’s design or order. After the design is confirmed, the craftsman then selects the correct stone and starts carving.
It was this moment that allowed me to appreciate the artisans at Tien Hieu Workshop. I was amazed watching them work up close as their skilled hands transformed raw stone into something special.
👉 Travel tip: Be careful when walking through this part of the workshop. As fine stone powder is released into the air. It is a good idea to wear a mask.

The Jewelry and Gemstone Display
This was the most fascinating section for me. The entire room was lined with rows of glittering jewelry and high-purity gems. You could find every type of piece, from bracelets to rings, and each item felt like its own nugget of treasure.
The best part is that every expensive item comes with a certificate of authenticity, so you can shop with confidence.
Tip for Visitors
Bargaining is a part of the culture here. If you find something you love and the price is a little high, then don't be shy to bargain.

The Sculpture Garden
Outside the workshop is a tranquil garden with large stone statues of Jesus, the Virgin Mary, Buddha, and many other figures. The statues celebrate the art forms of spirituality and culture. In this outdoor area, it is a good place to stop for sightseeing and pictures.

Where Do the Stones Come From?
I've learned that the highest quality raw stones that are used at Tien Hieu come from Vietnam, China, India, and Pakistan. This means all the pieces are bound to be different in some way and have a character of their own.
For any international tourists, you don't have to worry about how to get the item home. If you live overseas, they have safe and secure worldwide shipping by sea.
Even better, you might believe that the statues you buy here often cost only half the price of a similar statue you would see for sale in Europe, and are usually still made from the genuine craftsmanship of a local.
